What do you guys think about this?  https://www.latimes.com/science/la-sci-female-sexual-desire-drug-vyleesi-20190621-story.html

On one hand, I think it's fantastic that women's sexual desire is now taken seriously enough for them to have their own "viagra." On the other hand, there's this:

"The injectable drug bremelanotide, to be marketed as Vyleesi, will become just the second FDA-approved treatment for 'female hypoactive sexual desire disorder,' or HSDD. The condition, which was first recognized in its gender-specific form in 2012, is thought to affect as many as 1 in 10 women before the onset of menopause, and many more after that."

I'm suspicious of those statistics.  I suspect that those women have reduced desire because they are not having good, fulfilling sex.  I'm all for something that can increase a woman's desire, as long as she is also experiencing pleasure.

Personally, with this drug as well as Viagra, I think that if some person think they need that boost to help them and that they are happy with it and the results, I'm good with it.

However, I think both of them are too strongly targeted toward performance. Sex can be about performance in and of itself on occasion, it can be fun to do some things along those lines, I've done it a few times myself, but right now, our societal mentality makes it almost exclusively about performance.

Sex doesn't need penetration to be awesome or even an erection. I'd even go as far as to say that you don't need an orgasm to have great sex. Society's normalization dictates a phallocentric and orgasmocentric sexuality and these drugs are the proof.

If a person doesn't have sexual desires, that person should feel free to be happy with it and only seek to remedy to it if they feel like it.
